Ennio Morricone: Veruschka LP
"Ennio Morricone, the venerable one, the master of the mosaic - his eclectic powers exploding through cinematic consciousness as technicolor shrapnel for nearly 40 years. By alchemically combining the exotic and the experimental, Ennio Morricone’s magical mutations have spear-headed the movement to define the role of film music in the modern age."
Alan Bishop 4/99
Composed for the Franco Rubartelli film, Veruschka, Poesia di una Donna in 1971.
The film is a semi-fictional depiction of the super model Veruschka, starring the 60’s/70’s icon herself, who also made appearances in several other films of note such as Blow Up, Salome and Colour Chai.
This is a sprawling dreamscape, one of Morricone’s finest soundtracks. As often is the case with his best work, it’s essentially a collaboration with the sublime Edda Dell’Orso who provides her unmistakable vocals throughout.
Soundtrack for a fleeting summer.
Label - Dagored, 2020
Format - 2 LP in pink and white vinyl, new limited deluxe gatefold edition
