Italy and Alliance Graphique Internationale. 25 Graphic Designers of the 20th Century

This volume collects the work of 25 Italian designers whose cultural and professional roots go back to the last century, offering an insight into the history of Italian graphics in the second half of the 20th century. The graphic designers who are the protagonists of this book are the members who currently appear in AGI for Italy, described here through a selection of projects, iconic works and experiences of each one's career.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name – born in collaboration with the Alliance Graphique Internationale on the occasion of the 70th AGI Congress Trieste 2022 – the book is introduced by an essay in which the curator Carlo Vinti explores the transformations that have invested the profession of graphic design between the 1950s and the end of the century, recounting the parallel developments of Italian graphics and the Alliance Graphique Internationale.

Il lavoro di venticinque designer italiani le cui radici culturali e professionali affondano nel secolo scorso, raccolto in un volume che offre uno spaccato della storia della grafica italiana della seconda metà del ’900: i grafici protagonisti di questo libro sono i membri che figurano attualmente in AGI per l’Italia, qui raccontati attraverso una selezione di progetti ed esperienze della carriera di ciascuno: opere iconiche, che hanno segnato un'intera epoca e formato il nostro immaginario visivo, la cui documentazione è spesso dispersa in vari archivi e collezioni, non sempre facilmente accessibili.

Pubblicato in occasione dell'omonima mostra – nata in collaborazione con l’Alliance Graphique Internationale in occasione del 70esimo AGI Congress Trieste 2022 – il libro è introdotto da un saggio in cui il curatore Carlo Vinti approfondisce le trasformazioni che hanno investito la professione del graphic design tra gli anni 50 e la fine del secolo, raccontando gli sviluppi paralleli della grafica italiana e dell'Alliance Graphique Internationale.
